Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Cinemo's Outstanding Modular Multimedia Middleware Solutions for In-Vehicle Infotainment Systems

Cinemo has positioned itself as a single supplier of a one-of-a-kind multimedia solution that plays, manages and connects media universally through the vehicle

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the in-vehicle infotainment market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Cinemo with the 2014 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Leadership. Cinemo has brought a critical technology from personal computers and tablets into the vehicle to play and manage virtually any media file, disc and stream type seamlessly through a vehicle's in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system. This ability to create simultaneous, distributed playback of multiple HD streams across vehicle head units and rear-seat entertainment systems helps Cinemo's media engine stand out in the market.

Cinemo's portable architecture, hardware and operating system independent, can be integrated across vehicle brands, saving customers development costs. The company created an industry-leading Blu-ray disc playback method that includes 7.1 channel audio playback. This unique software integration is ideal for IVI systems that demand optimum performance and quality. The technology is already attracting automotive majors such as Mercedes and its luxury flagship S-Class.

Furthermore, being a niche company, Cinemo has the flexibility to keep its business model concise and effective, earning revenue for every vehicle it outfits. It distinguishes itself by offering a seamless solution through knowledgeable and experienced staff. Once the solution is delivered, the Cinemo team remains available for any operational support; however, its model ensures that further software maintenance is unnecessary given the crash-proof stability of the solution.

"Another reason for Cinemo's success is that its software was designed for an evolving digital landscape. For example, its rear-seat entertainment capabilities feature an extension through an app available across all major smart phones," said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Douglas R. Gilman. "Cinemo's idea of future-proofing further augments its efficiency and allows consumers to make adjustments according to their personal preferences."

Additionally, Cinemo, as a smaller company with a worldwide unique product offering, can offer attractive price points to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and it delivers both product and service advantages.

Given the rise of connected vehicles, Cinemo's solution has become even more relevant to OEMs and aftermarket manufacturers. In this scenario, the company has done well to position itself as a single supplier of a vehicle's multimedia and media management stack.

Furthermore, Cinemo's compliance with the GENIVI program will enhance its brand name and help create a faster time-to-market for IVI equipment and software. Its metadata database ensures non-stop playback of virtually any audio or video type.

"Looking forward in the connected vehicle ecosystem, Frost & Sullivan firmly believes that with a modular architecture and platform-specific optimization, Cinemo will continue to make a lasting impression," noted Gilman. "Cinemo's goal is not to be just a quality solution in a vehicle's center-stack, but to provide consistent playback and media management for rear-seat entertainment centers and multi-zone audio systems."

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated product and implementation excellence to increase market share. The award recognizes the vision alignment, process design and operational efficiency, as well as the technological sophistication and favorable culture within the company. It also lauds the value, reliability and quality of the product/service and its relevance to the needs of the industry in terms of value and design.

Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for outstanding achievement in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research.

Cinemo Raises the Bar with High Performance Blu-ray Disc Playback on Texas Instruments ARM® Cortex™-A15 Platforms

The introduction by Cinemo of automotive grade embedded multimedia player for Blu-ray Profile 2.0 on Texas Instruments OMAP™ 5 and DRA74x ‘Jacinto 6’ platforms is set to herald a new dimension in the infotainment experience

Karlsruhe, Germany, January 6th 2014 -- Cinemo, developers of high performance embedded multimedia technologies for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), is announcing automotive grade embedded multimedia player for Blu-ray Profile 2.0 on both Texas Instruments’ (TI) OMAP 5 and ‘Jacinto 6’ platforms.

Including Premium 7.1 channel audio, Digital Right Management (AACS and BD+), BD-Live and BD-J, along with future integration of the Blu-ray Profile 5.0 (3D Blu-ray) and support for current TI platforms, Cinemo’s Blu-ray Profile 2.0 playback will be ideally positioned for any infotainment setting demanding optimum performance and quality.

Cinemo takes full advantage of TI’s OMAP 5 and ‘Jacinto 6’ architecture by offloading the video decoding tasks to the TI IVA-HD video accelerator, while rendering is also optimized by using multi-core 3D graphics accelerator hardware built-in in the OMAP 5 and ‘Jacinto 6’. The addition of Blu-ray Profile 2.0 on TI’s OMAP5 and ‘Jacinto 6’ further enriches Cinemo’s acceptance as an integral part of any in-car entertainment system.

The first mass production recipients of Cinemo’s Blu-ray solution on the TI platform will be a major worldwide automotive maker with SOP in 2015.

“We are very happy to be able to extend our support for TI SoCs on OMAP 5, ‘Jacinto 6’ and beyond” says Jim Corbett, Co-founder and EVP of Cinemo. “The addition of Blu-ray Profile 2.0 to an already rich and full-featured embedded multimedia player and media management, will ensure that the challenge of Blu-ray disc in automotive can be met”.

“Cinemo have been providing leading solutions for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) multimedia, and we are delighted that the extended performance of the OMAP 5 and ‘Jacinto 6’ architecture can be leveraged for Cinemo’s Blu-ray Profile 2.0 integration,” said Matt Watson, product line manager, automotive infotainment processor, Texas Instruments.

Cinemo Redefines The In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) Experience With Ground Breaking Media Management

Cinemo announces several design wins for its latest and revolutionary middleware for local and connected IVI media management

Karlsruhe, Germany (July 25th , 2012) -- Cinemo’s introduction of its next generation media management adds to an already extensive array of technologies now part of Cinemo’s embedded multimedia solution for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI). From the start this new media management technology has been awarded multiple projects with first SOP (Start of Production) in the IVI space as early as 2013.

Designed to allow near instantaneous access to all media content available in the car regardless of the location or storage device, Cinemo’s Media Management Engine™ features multi-pass content indexing, ultra-fast searches, supports complex queries, smart synchronization, Unicode collation, alphabetical index generation, video thumbnail creation, dynamic on-demand searches, a seamless approach between local and connected database access, and further significantly intelligent algorithms and extensive optimizations which truly revolutionize the way and speed IVI digital media can be controlled.

Cinemo’s Media Management Engine™ is embracing the UPnP technology, supporting browse and search of media content from either local or remote devices, whilst custom extensions also allow users to access advanced functionalities. Using a plug-in based architecture, Tier Ones, Car OEMs and Software Integrators will have the possibility to extend Cinemo Media Management with new content sources such as Cloud services.

Cinemo ScanFast™ content discovery is an intelligent and fast indexing engine able to handle storage devices with hundreds of thousands of multimedia files. Its multi-pass indexing approach allows users to search and play multimedia content almost instantly after insertion, long before the content discovery process is complete. Search results will then be updated in real-time based on the discovery progress. Indexed metadata may optionally be saved to a persistent database on local storage, with an enhanced optimized schema to enable fast queries.

Due to its client/server architecture, Cinemo’s Media Management Engine™ can run either on one standalone system, for example on an infotainment head unit running locally, or can be connected across multiple devices by a wireless network.

“Delivering a PC and home entertainment like concept to the car has been one of the biggest challenges of late for IVI providers”, said Jim Corbett, Co-founder and Executive VP of Cinemo GmbH. “Cinemo has already demonstrated with its local and distributed playback solutions an unrivalled approach towards front and rear seat enjoyment. Now with Cinemo’s Media Management offering, an effortless control of all your content can be realised in an IVI setting for the very first time”.
